Probiotic Strains

Our probiotic strains are freeze-dried, no-filler powders of single bacterial strains: Lactobacillus plantarum LP45, Bifidobacterium longum L693 and Bifidobacterium lactis BAL531, each in a 50 gram pack. Every product is sold for laboratory research use only.

This is part of our Amino Acids and Probiotics range.

Handling probiotic strains

Freeze-dried bacteria are dormant until they meet water, so they travel without ice. Put the pack in the fridge as soon as it arrives.

CFU stands for colony forming units, the standard count of live bacteria. Each product page lists the total for the pack.

How we test our probiotic strains

Each batch is checked by LC-MS (liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry), which confirms both what the compound is and how pure it is. Each product page lists the purity and the CAS number where one exists. Write the batch number from the label into your records, since small differences between batches are normal.

What you’ll find on each product page

Every product page has a short summary of what the compound is, a specifications list with the CAS number, molecular formula and weight where they exist, and a plain summary of the published research with a link to the papers on PubMed. You’ll also find the available sizes or formats, the price for each option, and storage and handling notes.

If a compound is new and hasn’t been studied much, the page says so. It’s better to know that before you plan a study around it.

Why order from Umbrella Labs

Each batch is tested before it’s listed, every product here is in stock, and most compounds come in more than one format, so you can buy the one that fits your method. You can add lab supplies like scales, pipettes and bacteriostatic water to the same order, so everything for a study arrives together.

Storage and handling

Follow the storage line on each product page. As a rule, keep everything sealed, dry and out of direct light, and label anything you decant with the compound, amount and date. Keep all research compounds out of reach of children and pets.
