Peptide reconstitution guide
Most Umbrella Labs research peptides ship as a freeze-dried powder in a sealed vial. This guide shows how to reconstitute a peptide vial for lab work, how to work out the concentration and how to store it afterwards.

What you need for peptide reconstitution
- The freeze-dried peptide vial
- Bacteriostatic water (or acetic acid solution for peptides that don’t dissolve well in water)
- Sterile syringes and needles
- Alcohol swabs
- A pen to label the vial
How to reconstitute a peptide vial, step by step
- Let both vials come to room temperature for a few minutes if they’ve been in the fridge.
- Wipe the rubber stopper of each vial with an alcohol swab.
- Draw the volume of bacteriostatic water you’ve chosen into a sterile syringe.
- Insert the needle into the peptide vial and let the water run slowly down the inside wall of the glass. Don’t squirt it straight onto the powder.
- Swirl or roll the vial gently until the solution is clear. Don’t shake it, since shaking can damage peptides.
- Label the vial with the peptide, the concentration and the date, then put it in the fridge.
Working out the concentration
The concentration depends on how much peptide is in the vial and how much water you add. Divide the amount of peptide by the volume of water.
- 5mg vial plus 2mL of water gives 2.5mg per mL.
- 10mg vial plus 2mL of water gives 5mg per mL.
- 10mg vial plus 1mL of water gives 10mg per mL.
Pick a volume that makes your working measurements easy, and write it down. Anyone using the vial later needs to know what’s in it.
Storing reconstituted peptides
Keep mixed peptide vials in the fridge at 2 to 8°C and don’t freeze them. Most reconstituted peptides are good for a few weeks. Unmixed freeze-dried vials last much longer, especially in the fridge or freezer, so only reconstitute what you need.
Use a fresh sterile needle for every draw, and never put a used needle back into a vial. Throw the vial away if the liquid turns cloudy or has particles in it.
Peptides this reconstitution guide applies to
The same steps work for freeze-dried Umbrella Labs peptides like BPC-157, TB-500, GHK-Cu, retatrutide, ipamorelin and the peptide blends. Peptide nasal sprays and capsules come ready to use, so they don’t need reconstituting.
