Description
Our bacteriostatic water comes in a sealed 30mL vial with a rubber stopper, ready for use with peptides. It’s $19.99, and it’s in stock. Bacteriostatic water is sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol added. The benzyl alcohol stops bacteria growing, so a vial can be punctured more than once over several weeks, which plain sterile water can’t safely do.
You’ll need a reconstitution solution for every vial in our peptide vials and peptide blends ranges. It’s the standard liquid for reconstituting freeze-dried peptides.
What is bacteriostatic water?
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol added. The benzyl alcohol stops bacteria growing, so a vial can be punctured more than once over several weeks, which plain sterile water can’t safely do.
The preservative makes it the better choice whenever you’ll draw from a mixed vial more than once. For single-use mixing, sterile water works too.
Bacteriostatic water specifications

How to use bacteriostatic water for reconstitution
Wipe the stopper of both vials with an alcohol swab. Draw the volume you need with a sterile syringe, then let it run slowly down the inside wall of the peptide vial. Don’t squirt it straight onto the powder. Swirl gently until the solution is clear, and don’t shake it.
The volume you add sets the concentration. Adding 2mL to a 10mg peptide vial, for example, gives 5mg per mL. Write the volume and date on the peptide vial’s label.
Storage and shelf life
Keep the vial in the fridge and don’t freeze it. Once you’ve punctured the stopper, use a fresh sterile needle every time and never put a used needle back in. Throw the vial out if the liquid turns cloudy or has particles in it.
Common questions about bacteriostatic water
How many peptide vials will one bottle cover?
That depends on how much you add to each. At 2mL per vial, a 30mL bottle covers about 15 peptide vials.
Is it the same as sterile water?
No. Sterile water has no preservative, so it’s meant for one use. Bacteriostatic water has 0.9% benzyl alcohol so it can be used repeatedly.

We also stock acetic acid solution 0.6% and phosphate buffered saline (pbs), plus transfer pipettes for measuring small volumes. Browse all reconstitution solutions or the full lab supplies range.
Where the bacteriostatic water fits in your workflow
A typical peptide workflow goes like this: wipe both stoppers, draw the solution with a sterile syringe, add it slowly to the peptide vial, swirl until clear, then label and refrigerate. Having the right solution on hand before the peptide arrives saves a trip and keeps freshly delivered vials from sitting around unmixed.
Tips for using the bacteriostatic water
- Let a refrigerated vial come to room temperature for a few minutes before drawing, so the volume reads accurately.
- Keep a log of the date you first punctured each vial.
- Store it on a shelf away from the fridge door, where the temperature swings most.
Can I use it after the expiry date?
No. Once it’s past the date on the label, replace it.
