Umbrella Labs lab testing and purity
Every batch of Umbrella Labs research peptides, SARMs and nootropics is checked by LC-MS before it goes on sale. Here’s what that test does and what the purity figure on each product page means.
What LC-MS testing checks
LC-MS stands for liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. The liquid chromatography step pushes a dissolved sample through a column that separates it into its individual components. The mass spectrometer then measures the mass of each component, which tells you what it is.
Put together, the two answer the questions that matter for research material: is this the compound on the label, and how much of the sample is that compound? That second number is the purity.
What the purity figure means
Each Umbrella Labs product page lists the purity for that compound, and most test at 99% or higher. A 99% result means that 99% of what the test detected in the sample was the target compound. The remainder is usually closely related material from synthesis, such as shorter peptide fragments.
Purity isn’t the same as amount. A 5mg vial at 99% purity holds about 5mg of material, and 99% of that material is the target compound.
Small differences between batches are normal. That’s why we recommend writing the batch number from the label into your lab records.
Research peptide testing
Each batch of freeze-dried research peptides is tested by LC-MS, the same as every other product. Once you’ve reconstituted a vial, its stability depends on how you store it, so keep mixed peptides in the fridge and use them within a few weeks. Our reconstitution guide has more detail.
Testing across formats
The same LC-MS testing covers every format we sell, whether it’s a vial, capsules, a liquid, a powder or gel packs. The product page lists the purity and, for liquids, the concentration in mg per mL.
Checking a product when it arrives
- Freeze-dried peptides should look like a dry white or off-white cake or powder.
- Liquids should be clear, with no particles or cloudiness.
- Seals and caps should be intact.
