Reconstitution Solutions
Reconstitution solutions are the liquids used to dissolve freeze-dried research peptides and other compounds. We stock bacteriostatic water, 0.6% acetic acid solution and phosphate buffered saline in 30mL vials, plus PEG 400, DMSO and K&B solution in 60mL bottles. Every product is sold for laboratory research use only.

Which reconstitution solution to use
Bacteriostatic water is the standard for peptides. Its 0.9% benzyl alcohol lets you draw from a mixed vial more than once. Acetic acid solution is for the few peptides, like IGF-1 LR3, that don’t dissolve well in water. PBS is a buffered salt solution for single-use dilutions.
PEG 400, DMSO and K&B solution are solvents for small-molecule compounds. They aren’t used for peptides.
How we test our reconstitution solutions
Each batch is checked by LC-MS (liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry), which confirms both what the compound is and how pure it is. Each product page lists the purity and the CAS number where one exists. Write the batch number from the label into your records, since small differences between batches are normal.
What you’ll find on each product page
Every product page has a short summary of what the compound is, a specifications list with the CAS number, molecular formula and weight where they exist, and a plain summary of the published research with a link to the papers on PubMed. You’ll also find the available sizes or formats, the price for each option, and storage and handling notes.
If a compound is new and hasn’t been studied much, the page says so. It’s better to know that before you plan a study around it.
Why order from Umbrella Labs
Each batch is tested before it’s listed, every product here is in stock, and most compounds come in more than one format, so you can buy the one that fits your method. You can add lab supplies like scales, pipettes and bacteriostatic water to the same order, so everything for a study arrives together.
Storage and handling
Follow the storage line on each product page. As a rule, keep everything sealed, dry and out of direct light, and label anything you decant with the compound, amount and date. Keep all research compounds out of reach of children and pets.
Common questions about reconstitution solutions
How much do I need?
At 2mL per vial, one 30mL bottle of bacteriostatic water covers about 15 peptide vials.
How should I store them?
Keep the vials in the fridge and don’t freeze them. Store the solvents in a cool, dry place.
