ABT-089 (pozanicline) is a partial agonist at alpha4beta2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, developed by Abbott.
It was tested in ADHD and Alzheimer’s disease.

Research on ABT-089
Wilens and colleagues reported a small improvement in adult ADHD in a 2006 trial.
Later trials in Alzheimer’s disease didn’t show a clear benefit.

Making a solution from ABT-089 powder
To make a stock solution, decide on the final volume and concentration first. For 30mL at 10mg/mL you’d weigh 300mg of ABT-089, dissolve it in about 25mL of solvent, then top up to exactly 30mL.
Check the compound’s solubility in your chosen solvent before you start, and try a small test amount first. Store the finished solution in a labelled glass bottle.

Every batch of ABT-089 is checked with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) before it goes on sale. LC-MS separates a sample into its parts and identifies each one by mass, so it confirms what the compound is and how much of the sample it makes up. The current batch tested at 99% or higher.
Small differences between batches are normal, so write the batch number from the label into your records. If something looks wrong when your order arrives, like discoloured powder or a cloudy solution, set it aside and don’t use it.
