Description
The CMS-121 powder from Umbrella Labs gives you CMS-121 as loose powder. Each batch is tested by LC-MS to 99% purity or higher. It’s $49.99. It’s sold for laboratory research only.
The same compound comes in other formats too: CMS-121 capsules and CMS-121 liquid. You’ll find similar products in our nootropic powders range.
What is CMS-121?
CMS-121 is a synthetic derivative of fisetin, a flavonoid from strawberries, developed at the Salk Institute by Pamela Maher and David Schubert. It was optimised to protect neurons from several types of age-related stress at once.
It acts partly by inhibiting the enzyme acetyl-CoA carboxylase 1.

CMS-121 in published research
Ates and colleagues reported in 2020 that it reduced memory loss and brain inflammation in Alzheimer’s model mice.
Other mouse studies looked at metabolic aging. Data are preclinical.
You can find the papers on PubMed. We don’t make claims beyond what that literature reports.
Working with loose CMS-121 powder
Buying CMS-121 as a powder gives you full control. Weigh out exactly what your protocol calls for, make up your own solutions, or encapsulate it yourself.
For small amounts you’ll want a scale that reads to at least 0.01g, and ideally 0.001g. Our digital scale and micro scoops make it easier to get consistent measurements. Weigh onto clean weighing paper, and close the bag or jar straight after so the powder doesn’t pick up moisture.
Making a solution from CMS-121 powder
To make a stock solution, decide on the final volume and concentration first. For 30mL at 10mg/mL you’d weigh 300mg of CMS-121, dissolve it in about 25mL of solvent, then top up to exactly 30mL.
Check the compound’s solubility in your chosen solvent before you start, and try a small test amount first. Store the finished solution in a labelled glass bottle.
How we test CMS-121
We test each batch of CMS-121 by LC-MS, which pairs liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry. The chromatography splits the sample into its components and the mass spectrometer identifies them, which tells you both identity and purity. This batch came in at 99% or higher.
Small differences between batches are normal, so write the batch number from the label into your records. If something looks wrong when your order arrives, like discoloured powder or a cloudy solution, set it aside and don’t use it.
Storage and handling
Keep it sealed in a cool, dry place away from light. Use a clean, dry scoop each time, and reseal the container straight away. Label anything you decant with the compound, amount and date, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
Common questions about the CMS-121 powder
What can I dissolve CMS-121 powder in?
That depends on the compound’s solubility and your protocol. Check the solubility data for your solvent first, and test a small amount before making up a full batch.
What scale do I need?
One that reads to 0.01g at minimum, and 0.001g for very small amounts. Our pocket scale reads to 0.01g.
