What is Matrixyl?
Matrixyl (palmitoyl pentapeptide-4) is the pentapeptide KTTKS with a palmitic acid chain added. The fatty acid helps it pass into skin.
KTTKS is a fragment of type I procollagen.

What studies say about Matrixyl
Robinson and colleagues reported in 2005 that topical palmitoyl pentapeptide reduced fine lines in a 12-week study.
It’s one of the most-used cosmetic peptides.
You can find the papers on PubMed. We don’t make claims beyond what that literature reports.
Preparing Matrixyl in the lab
The vial holds Matrixyl as a dry, freeze-dried cake. To use it, dissolve it in bacteriostatic water, letting it run slowly down the side of the glass so it doesn’t hit the powder directly. Swirl or roll the vial until it’s clear. Shaking can damage peptides, so skip it.
The amount of water you add sets the concentration. For example, adding 2mL of bacteriostatic water to a 200mg vial gives 100mg per mL. Write the volume and the date on the label so anyone picking up the vial later knows what’s in it.
We sell bacteriostatic water in 30mL vials, and acetic acid solution for the few peptides that don’t dissolve well in water.
Purity testing for Matrixyl
We test each batch of Matrixyl by LC-MS, which pairs liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry. The chromatography splits the sample into its components and the mass spectrometer identifies them, which tells you both identity and purity. This batch came in at 99% or higher.
Small differences between batches are normal, so write the batch number from the label into your records. If something looks wrong when your order arrives, like discoloured powder or a cloudy solution, set it aside and don’t use it.
Storage and handling
Keep it in the fridge at 2 to 8°C and don’t freeze it. Once mixed, keep the vial in the fridge and use it within a few weeks. Unmixed vials keep much longer, so only reconstitute what you need. Label anything you decant with the compound, amount and date, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
Common questions about the Matrixyl peptide vial
Does Matrixyl come with water to mix it?
No. The vial holds only the freeze-dried powder. Add bacteriostatic water to your order if you don’t already have some.
How long does mixed Matrixyl last?
Kept in the fridge, most reconstituted peptides are good for a few weeks. Unmixed vials last much longer, especially in the fridge or freezer.
Is the Matrixyl peptide vial in stock?
Yes. Every option on this page is in stock and ready to ship.
