What is J147?
J147 was developed at the Salk Institute by modifying curcumin and cyclohexyl-bisphenol A. It acts on mitochondrial ATP synthase.
It’s studied for age-related memory loss.

Research on J147
Chen and colleagues reported in PLoS One (2011) that J147 improved memory in Alzheimer’s model mice.
Goldberg and colleagues identified ATP synthase as its target in 2018, and a phase 1 trial began in 2019.

Making a solution from J147 powder
To make a stock solution, decide on the final volume and concentration first. For 30mL at 10mg/mL you’d weigh 300mg of J147, dissolve it in about 25mL of solvent, then top up to exactly 30mL.
Check the compound’s solubility in your chosen solvent before you start, and try a small test amount first. Store the finished solution in a labelled glass bottle.
Purity testing for J147
Every batch of J147 is checked with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) before it goes on sale. LC-MS separates a sample into its parts and identifies each one by mass, so it confirms what the compound is and how much of the sample it makes up. The current batch tested at 99% or higher.
Small differences between batches are normal, so write the batch number from the label into your records. If something looks wrong when your order arrives, like discoloured powder or a cloudy solution, set it aside and don’t use it.
Storage and handling
Keep it refrigerated. Use a clean, dry scoop each time, and reseal the container straight away. Label anything you decant with the compound, amount and date, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
