What is Humanin?
Humanin is a 24-amino-acid peptide encoded in mitochondrial DNA. It was first found in 2001 by Hashimoto and colleagues while looking for factors that protect neurons from Alzheimer’s-related damage.
Circulating levels fall with age in humans and rodents.

What studies say about Humanin
Hashimoto and colleagues’ original 2001 PNAS paper showed humanin protected neurons from amyloid beta toxicity in culture.
Later studies by Pinchas Cohen’s group reported effects on insulin sensitivity and lifespan in mice.

How to mix a Humanin vial
The vial holds Humanin as a dry, freeze-dried cake. To use it, dissolve it in bacteriostatic water, letting it run slowly down the side of the glass so it doesn’t hit the powder directly. Swirl or roll the vial until it’s clear. Shaking can damage peptides, so skip it.
The amount of water you add sets the concentration. For example, adding 2mL of bacteriostatic water to a 10mg vial gives 5mg per mL. Write the volume and the date on the label so anyone picking up the vial later knows what’s in it.
We sell bacteriostatic water in 30mL vials, and acetic acid solution for the few peptides that don’t dissolve well in water.
How we test Humanin
We test each batch of Humanin by LC-MS, which pairs liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry. The chromatography splits the sample into its components and the mass spectrometer identifies them, which tells you both identity and purity. This batch came in at 99% or higher.
Small differences between batches are normal, so write the batch number from the label into your records. If something looks wrong when your order arrives, like discoloured powder or a cloudy solution, set it aside and don’t use it.
How to store Humanin
Keep it in the fridge at 2 to 8°C and don’t freeze it. Once mixed, keep the vial in the fridge and use it within a few weeks. Unmixed vials keep much longer, so only reconstitute what you need. Label anything you decant with the compound, amount and date, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
Common questions about the Humanin peptide vial
Does Humanin come with water to mix it?
No. The vial holds only the freeze-dried powder. Add bacteriostatic water to your order if you don’t already have some.
How long does mixed Humanin last?
Kept in the fridge, most reconstituted peptides are good for a few weeks. Unmixed vials last much longer, especially in the fridge or freezer.
Is the Humanin peptide vial in stock?
Yes. Every option on this page is in stock and ready to ship.
