What is Ligandrol?

Ligandrol (LGD-4033, also coded VK5211) is a nonsteroidal SARM discovered by Ligand Pharmaceuticals and later licensed to Viking Therapeutics. It binds the androgen receptor with high affinity and, in animal models, acts strongly on muscle and bone while sparing the prostate.

It has never been approved as a medicine and is on the WADA prohibited list.

Research on Ligandrol

A phase 1 study by Basaria and colleagues, published in the Journals of Gerontology in 2013, gave LGD-4033 to 76 healthy young men for 21 days. Lean body mass rose in a dose-dependent way, and the study also reported dose-related drops in HDL cholesterol and testosterone.

Viking later ran a phase 2 trial of VK5211 in older patients recovering from hip fracture.

Choosing a size and carrier for Ligandrol liquid

Both bottle sizes hold the same 20mg/mL solution, so the only difference is how much you get. With the PEG (original) carrier, 30mL costs $70.99 and 60mL costs $140.98. The 30mL bottle is the cheaper way to try the format before you commit to a larger one.

You can choose between PEG (original) and Poly-Cell™. Pick one carrier and stay with it for a whole study, because switching halfway through adds a variable you’d have to account for.

Shake the bottle gently before each draw and use a clean pipette every time. Our transfer pipettes and dropper bottles are sold separately.

Making working dilutions of Ligandrol

If your protocol calls for a lower concentration, dilute a measured volume into a clean glass bottle. For example, 1mL of the 20mg/mL solution plus 1mL of carrier gives 2mL at 10mg/mL. Use the same carrier where possible, or a solvent your protocol allows, and mix gently.

Make up only what you’ll use in the short term, and label the new bottle with the concentration and date.

How we test Ligandrol

Every batch of Ligandrol is checked with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) before it goes on sale. LC-MS separates a sample into its parts and identifies each one by mass, so it confirms what the compound is and how much of the sample it makes up. The current batch tested at 99% or higher.

Small differences between batches are normal, so write the batch number from the label into your records. If something looks wrong when your order arrives, like discoloured powder or a cloudy solution, set it aside and don’t use it.

Storage and handling

Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the cap tight, and don’t leave the bottle in a hot car or on a sunny windowsill. Label anything you decant with the compound, amount and date, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
