What is O-304?
O-304 (ATX-304) is a pan-AMPK activator developed by Betagenon in Sweden. It works by stopping AMPK from being switched off.
It’s studied in diabetes and heart function.

Research on O-304
Steneberg and colleagues reported in JCI Insight (2018) that O-304 lowered blood glucose and improved heart function in mice.
A small phase 2a trial in type 2 diabetes followed.

Working with O-304 in solution
The liquid form saves you the work of dissolving powder. O-304 is already in solution at 100mg/mL, so every millilitre holds the same amount. A 1mL draw gives you 100mg.
Use a clean graduated pipette or dropper for each draw so nothing goes back into the bottle. Shake gently first, because some solutions settle over time. We stock transfer pipettes and dropper bottles if you need them.
Making working dilutions of O-304
If your protocol calls for a lower concentration, dilute a measured volume into a clean glass bottle. For example, 1mL of the 100mg/mL solution plus 1mL of carrier gives 2mL at 50mg/mL. Use the same carrier where possible, or a solvent your protocol allows, and mix gently.
Make up only what you’ll use in the short term, and label the new bottle with the concentration and date.
Purity testing for O-304
We test each batch of O-304 by LC-MS, which pairs liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry. The chromatography splits the sample into its components and the mass spectrometer identifies them, which tells you both identity and purity. This batch came in at 99% or higher.
Small differences between batches are normal, so write the batch number from the label into your records. If something looks wrong when your order arrives, like discoloured powder or a cloudy solution, set it aside and don’t use it.
Storing your O-304
Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the cap tight so the solution doesn’t evaporate or pick up contaminants. Label anything you decant with the compound, amount and date, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
