S107 is a small benzothiazepine from Andrew Marks’ lab at Columbia University. It stabilises ryanodine receptors so they don’t leak calcium.

Research on S107
Bellinger and colleagues reported in Nature Medicine (2009) that S107 improved muscle function in dystrophic mice.

Making a solution from S107 powder
To make a stock solution, decide on the final volume and concentration first. For 30mL at 10mg/mL you’d weigh 300mg of S107, dissolve it in about 25mL of solvent, then top up to exactly 30mL.
Check the compound’s solubility in your chosen solvent before you start, and try a small test amount first. Store the finished solution in a labelled glass bottle.
How we test S107
Every batch of S107 is checked with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) before it goes on sale. LC-MS separates a sample into its parts and identifies each one by mass, so it confirms what the compound is and how much of the sample it makes up. The current batch tested at 99% or higher.
Small differences between batches are normal, so write the batch number from the label into your records. If something looks wrong when your order arrives, like discoloured powder or a cloudy solution, set it aside and don’t use it.
