What is SR-9009?
SR-9009 (stenabolic) is a synthetic REV-ERB agonist developed at the Scripps Research Institute. It’s sold next to SARMs, but it acts on the body clock proteins REV-ERB-alpha and beta, not on the androgen receptor.
Its oral bioavailability is known to be poor, which matters if you’re designing experiments around it.

What studies say about SR-9009
Solt and colleagues reported in Nature (2012) that SR9009 changed circadian gene expression in mice, raised energy use and reduced fat mass.
Woldt and colleagues later showed in Nature Medicine (2013) that it increased mitochondria in skeletal muscle and improved running endurance in mice.

Working with loose SR-9009 powder
Loose powder is the most flexible way to buy SR-9009. You can weigh any amount you need, dissolve it in your own solvent, or fill your own capsules. It’s also the cheapest format per milligram.
For small amounts you’ll want a scale that reads to at least 0.01g, and ideally 0.001g. Our digital scale and micro scoops make it easier to get consistent measurements. Weigh onto clean weighing paper, and close the bag or jar straight after so the powder doesn’t pick up moisture.
Making a solution from SR-9009 powder
To make a stock solution, decide on the final volume and concentration first. For 30mL at 10mg/mL you’d weigh 300mg of SR-9009, dissolve it in about 25mL of solvent, then top up to exactly 30mL.
Check the compound’s solubility in your chosen solvent before you start, and try a small test amount first. Store the finished solution in a labelled glass bottle.
SR-9009 quality and testing
We test each batch of SR-9009 by LC-MS, which pairs liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry. The chromatography splits the sample into its components and the mass spectrometer identifies them, which tells you both identity and purity. This batch came in at 99% or higher.
Small differences between batches are normal, so write the batch number from the label into your records. If something looks wrong when your order arrives, like discoloured powder or a cloudy solution, set it aside and don’t use it.
Storage and handling
Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use a clean, dry scoop each time, and reseal the container straight away. Label anything you decant with the compound, amount and date, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
