Umbrella Labs research peptides: a buyer’s guide

Umbrella Labs research peptides range from long-studied sequences like BPC-157 to new metabolic peptides like retatrutide. We stock more than 150 of them. This guide groups the most requested ones by research area, explains the formats, and covers what you’ll need to work with them.

What are research peptides?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids, usually between 2 and 50. Many act as signals in the body, binding receptors much like hormones do. Research peptides are synthetic versions made by solid-phase synthesis and sold as freeze-dried powder for laboratory work. Some, like tesamorelin, share their active compound with approved drugs; most are not approved for any use. Umbrella Labs sells them for research use only.

Metabolic research peptides

Retatrutide acts on GLP-1, GIP and glucagon receptors at once. A 2023 phase 2 trial in the New England Journal of Medicine reported large weight reductions over 48 weeks. It’s one of the most requested Umbrella Labs research peptides, and the GLP peptides section holds related compounds.

AOD-9604 is a modified fragment of human growth hormone (amino acids 176 to 191) studied for fat metabolism. MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide encoded in mitochondrial DNA, first described in 2015 and studied for effects on insulin sensitivity.

Repair and recovery research peptides

BPC-157 has a large body of rodent research on tendon, muscle and gut healing. Our Umbrella Labs BPC-157 guide covers it in detail. TB-500 is a synthetic fragment of thymosin beta-4, studied for cell migration and wound repair, and the two are often combined in the BPC-157 and TB-500 blend.

GHK-Cu is a copper-binding tripeptide found naturally in human plasma and studied in skin and wound research. KPV is the last three amino acids of alpha-MSH and is studied for its anti-inflammatory effects in gut models.

Growth hormone research peptides

These peptides act on the growth hormone axis in two different ways. CJC-1295 DAC and tesamorelin mimic GHRH, the hormone that tells the pituitary to release growth hormone. Tesamorelin is the active compound in an FDA-approved drug for HIV-related abdominal fat. Ipamorelin works on the ghrelin receptor instead, which is why it’s often paired with a GHRH analog in research.

Longevity and cellular research compounds

Epitalon is a four-amino-acid peptide developed by Vladimir Khavinson in Russia and studied in telomere and aging research. Glutathione is a tripeptide and the main antioxidant inside cells. Our shop also carries NAD+ and 5-amino-1MQ. Neither is a peptide, but both come as vials and are used in the same metabolic and aging research.

Choosing a format

Most Umbrella Labs research peptides come as freeze-dried vials, the format used in most published studies. The range also includes peptide blends with two to four peptides at a fixed ratio, ready-mixed nasal sprays, and peptide capsules. If you’re unsure, start with the single-peptide vial. It’s the most flexible.

What you’ll need to work with peptide vials

Freeze-dried peptides need to be dissolved before use. You’ll need bacteriostatic water and sterile syringes. Our peptide reconstitution guide walks through the steps and the maths. Keep unmixed vials in the fridge, or the freezer for longer storage. Keep mixed vials in the fridge and use them within a few weeks.

How Umbrella Labs tests its research peptides

Every batch is tested by LC-MS, and each product page lists its purity. See our lab testing page for how the tests work.
